Is The Guide linked to the Visitor Center?

Yes.  The Visitor Center and The Guide are both collaborative efforts of the Friends of Walden Pond via the Walden Woods Project.   To my mind, The Guide is the real outdoor version of the indoor experience of the Visitor Center.

Inside, you’ll find a beautiful, environmentally sustainable building with a  3-D centerpiece map, introductory exhibits, a video theater, and interpretive staff of the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, which manages in the pond in the public trust.

Outside, you’ll find the actual place with precious little information beyond a few signs.  With The Guide in hand, you’ll have something to learn from when you’re beyond the tall glass doors of the Visitor Center.  Stop by stop, the At-a-Glance summaries, the 91 color images, and the 60 color-coded, place-specific sidebars of annotated Walden quotes can enrich your experience.
