Environmental Studies

Foam on a lake shore

For decades I’ve worked with other faculty on the Environmental Studies Program at UConn.  As of 2024, I serve on its board.  I regularly guest lecture for the introductory course and occasionally the capstone course.  Much of my recent scholarship focusses on the science of Henry David Thoreau, the patron saint of America’s environmental movement. Understanding modern sustainability and environmental issues benefits by tracing it back to the origin of its aesthetic strand.
