The first two tabs under this menu tab Scholar — Scientific Research and Humanities Scholarship — are very distinct in their methods. Much of my early scholarship emphasized the former, and vice versa. I’m convinced that integrating the two modalities makes the most sense, a return to the mid 19th century approach when both are integral to each other. Rather than describe this process I thought I’d offer a four-part example under this tab –Sense of Place– that brings history, literature, geology, sociology, and ecology to the same table. These were a series of essays published for “Place,” a nationally award winning special commentary section of the Sunday Hartford Courant from its glory days. Link to:
